The Dallaglio Foundation
The Dallaglio Foundation was set up by Lawrence in 2009 following the death of his beloved mother Eileen from cancer. The Foundation has gone on to support very specific and tangible projects that are personally selected by Lawrence through a variety of events.
For the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012 the Dallaglio Foundation is choosing to support the Cancer Research UK funded ICGC project on prostate cancer genetics. This exciting initiative will read the complete genetic codes of 250 prostate cancer patients; the results will mean that scientists can differentiate between fast and slow growing tumors for the first time and will help to build a new era of personalized medicine.
Lawrence Dallaglio: “I am honored to announce that the Dallaglio Foundation is now funding the new £2.5m ICGC research project into prostate cancer which could help change the face of prostate cancer treatment for millions of patients around the world.” For more information about ICGC please visit Lawrence’s blog on the Cancer Research UK website which provides much more detailed information.
